Five schools, one easy-to-manage phone system

United Schools Federation is a federation of five schools across Torbay and South Devon that share resources and expertise. We gave them a cloud-based system that moves calls between sites and that their own team can manage.

The challenge

What United Schools Federation needed

With sites scattered over many miles and a clear wish to share services across the Federation, communication was essential. Staff needed to move telephone calls between sites with something that was easy to use, easy to manage and still cost-effective, so every parent gets the same experience whichever site they call.

What we did

Our approach

Calls that move between sites

Working through our relationship with SCOMIS and SWGfL, we installed a system that lets calls move between sites over the schools' existing internet connections. That saved money and meant key staff could see who was on the phone elsewhere in the Federation, and transfer calls between colleagues as if they were sitting next to each other.

Managed from a single page

The whole system is managed from one page, so it's easy to move staff and their phones around as needed. As the Federation grows, extra users can be added at any site without worrying about hardware limits.

The result

Where it left them

Once set up, reliability has been excellent, and the schools also benefit from more advanced features like call recording for many of their users. Their Senior Administrator rates the support service as second to none.
