Eight rural school sites working as one team
Alumnis Multi Academy Trust is seven primary schools and an administrative hub across rural North Devon. We gave them a hosted 3CX phone system so staff across eight sites can work effectively as one team.

What Alumnis Multi Academy Trust needed
Communication is central to how the Trust delivers its vision. The biggest challenge of running eight sites across rural North Devon was letting staff work effectively as a team. The Trust needed to move telephone calls between schools with a solution that was easy to use and easy to manage, so every parent gets a uniform experience on every site.
What we did
Our approach
One number plan across every school
Working closely with the Trust and their IT partners, we provided a new 3CX telephone system. The Trust didn't want to depend on a single site to host it, so the whole installation runs on Amazon Web Services. Staff use standard desk phones, and because every school is on the same system, they can reach any colleague on any site by dialling an extension.
Easy, low-cost growth
The hosted system makes growth simple — extra extensions can be added at low cost, one user at a time, which makes it easy to budget for the future.
The result
Where it left them
The system went live in August 2019. By mid-September, colleagues across the Trust were reporting that the auto-attendant was proving efficient and effective, while internal calling had cut external call volumes — and costs — right down. The Trust Business Manager found the Cobalt team responsive and proactive through every stage, from enquiry to post-installation support and training.
